The company needs to increase center profits and decrease the time it takes for seasonal tutors to reach instructional independence.
New employee onboarding includes a $300 stipend for online orientation, 2 weeks of classroom training, and 2 weeks of intensive on-the-job training.
After training, each new tutor requires an average of 40 additional nonbillable hours in mentoring to become proficient in correctly and independently implementing instructional programs. Delayed proficiency has led to a spike in complimentaries (comps) for poor instructional quality during peak season.
Create a scaffolded learning experience that pairs a flipped classroom method with just-in-time training. The front-loaded portion of training incorporates observation, role-play, and guided, hands-on practice. This is followed by spaced instructor-led workshops and mentoring aligned with students' anticipated instructional progress.
